As the “lingua franca” of business, science, and international communication, English is essential in today’s interdependent world. In the past two decades, demand for use of English has increased exponentially in the Kingdom, and it has now become the first skill required of all new employees in the Saudi labor market. For these reasons, Al Yamamah University has entered into a partnership with INTERLINK Language Centers, based in the U.S.A., to provide quality instruction to accommodate the academic needs of both its own students at the University and those in the larger community wishing to improve their English language skills for personal, professional and study abroad purposes. This partnership is aimed at advancing not only English language training but also international understanding and educational exchanges between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, North America, and other countries around the world.

The first INTERLINK center was established in the United States at Guilford College in North Carolina in 1980. Additional centers were opened at Indiana State University in Terre Haute (1987), Colorado School of Mines (1990), Valparaiso University (1992), The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (1997), and at Al Yamamah University (2003). With the home office now in Colorado, INTERLINK continues its global mission by serving the needs of its diverse student clientele.

Since its inception in 1980, INTERLINK Language Centers has been providing thousands of international students with English language training, academic preparation and cultural orientation to enable them to enter academic institutions in North America. The expertise developed by INTERLINK over the years is now available to students at Al Yamamah to provide a firm linguistic foundation for their academic and professional careers in the global market.
