Examinations
For the purpose of these regulations an examination is defined an arrangement by which the skills and knowledge of the student are systematically assessed in cases where a grade that appears on the official transcript and is awarded per the requirements otherwise stated in this catalog and/or the course syllabus.

Special arrangements in connection with examinations
On the basis of functional disability and within specified time limits, students may apply in writing to the relevant course instructor for special arrangements in connection with the examination in the form of extra aids at the examination or special arrangements to make it practically easier for the student to sit for the examination. Such applications will be considered on the basis of whether the examination will be acceptable from an academic point of view given the requested accommodations. The special arrangements in connection with an examination must not give the student in question any advantages compared to other students.

YU deals with applications for special arrangements in connection with examinations on an individual basis. Documentation by an expert person of the grounds on which the application is based must be enclosed with the application for an exception. This documentation must be dated in the same semester as the examination is to be taken. A separate form must be used. The application applies only to one examination, and a new application must be submitted for each additional examination.

Cheating
Cheating is understood to be a violation of the academic regulations of Al Yamamah University. Other dishonest acts or circumstances intended to give the examinee an unjustified advantage in connection with an examination also are considered to be cheating. Moreover, acts as mentioned above, or acts that in other ways unfairly advance the knowledge and skills of the examinee are regarded as cheating.

Cheating also includes knowledge of the content of examination papers by an examinee prior to the commencement of the examination, or manipulation of the answer paper after it has been handed in.

If intentionally or through gross negligence a student has cheated or attempted to cheat, the examination can be annulled, and the student may be excluded from the YU EMBA program and may be denied the right to enroll in courses and/or sit for an examination for a period of one year. A decision on the annulment of an examination or exclusion from the EMBA program is taken by the Executive Director of the EMBA program and the Provost of the University. A decision on annulment or exclusion can be appealed to the EMBA Appeals Committee of the YU EMBA program. In case of such appeals the decision, as a main rule, shall not be implemented until the appeals procedure has been concluded.

Make-up Examinations (Re-examination)
A make-up examination or the re-examination of a student may be given only when approved in writing the Director of the Executive MBA program, and only for extenuating circumstances beyond the student’s control. Notification of Results

The YU Office of the Registrar will post grades to students’ transcripts once they are received from the instructor of record, and signed-off by the EMBA Director and the Provost.
Examination papers will be returned to the students at the discretion of the instructor of record, but will be available for review in the EMBA office on appointment basis. Participants are not allowed to make a copy of the examination papers or remove them from the EMBA office.

Examinees who have taken an examination or test may file a written complaint about formal errors pertaining to examination papers, the examination itself, or the grading by putting their complaints in writing to the Executive Director of the EMBA program.

Such complaints must be submitted to the EMBA office within two weeks of the grades being posted by the Office of the Registrar. If an error has been committed that can be reasonably assumed to have affected the student’s performance or the evaluation of it, the EMBA Appeals Committee may reject or accept the appeal. If still unsatisfied, the student may appeal in writing to the Provost within two weeks for the decision by the Appeals Committee. The Provost’s decision is final. There will be a nominal fee applicable for any appeal to the Provost, refundable only if the Provost upholds the appeal.

Class Attendance
Class attendance is mandatory. Participants who do not satisfactorily complete all Executive MBA courses will not graduate with their cohort. The success of the Executive MBA program is highly dependent upon the commitment of its participants and the dynamics of classroom discussions and debates. As such, class attendance is imperative. Due to the compressed nature of the courses, absence, or partial attendance, can severely hinder a participant’s progress and possibly lead him, or her, to fail the class.

Any form of absence from class is to be reported to the YU EMBA Director in writing (letter, fax or email message) prior to the absence. In the exceptional case when a participant is obliged to miss a session, or part thereof, it is his/ her, responsibility to notify the instructor and the program director before the session and to provide a valid explanation for the absence.

The participant will receive a failing grade if he/she misses 10% of a course (3 of 30 contact hours) or its related preparatory module (3 of 30 contact hours). In case of attendance failure, the university will not refund the course tuition. The participant will be required either to retake the course at full tuition or to register for an approved alternate if available.
