BBA Concentration Requirements

 

BBA Concentration Requirements:
YU’s BBA Program includes six Concentration options (Accounting, Finance, Insurance, MIS, Marketing and Quality Management); each of which allows the student to take a wide variety of cross-concentration courses.  Suggested models are provided here; however, students may select from a wider variety of options than those suggested here. Please note that the list of Non-Business Electives suggested in each of the following exhibits is the same for all subject concentrations. 

ACCOUNTING CONCENTRATION REQUIREMENTS
The Accounting Concentration consists of five courses in addition to ACCT 201 (Financial Accounting) and ACCT 202 (Managerial Accounting), which are the two accounting courses required of all students as part of the Core Curriculum.

The five additional Accounting courses include:
ACCT 301: Intermediate Financial Accounting I(Pre-requisites:  ACCT 201 and ACCT 202)
ACCT 302: Cost Accounting (Pre-requisites:  ACCT 201 and ACCT 202)
ACCT 401: Intermediate Financial Accounting II (Pre-requisites:  ACCT 301 and ACCT 302)
ACCT 402: Auditing (Pre-requisites:  ACCT 301 and ACCT 302)
ACCT 403: Advanced Financial Accounting (Pre-requisites:  ACCT 301 and ACCT 302)

The Finance Concentration consists of five courses in addition to FIN 201 (Introduction to Finance), the single Finance course required of all students as specified in the Core Curriculum requirements.

The five additional Finance courses follow: 
FIN 301: Investments (Pre-requisite:  FIN 201)
FIN 302: Advanced Financial Management (Pre-requisite:  FIN 201)
FIN 401: Derivative Securities (Pre-requisites:  FIN 301 and FIN 302)
FIN 402: Corporate Finance (Pre-requisites:  FIN 301 and FIN 302)
FIN 403: International Finance (Pre-requisite:  FIN 303)

INSU 402: Insurance Theory and Practice (Pre-requisites:  INSU 301 and INSU 302)
INSU 403: Personal Financial Planning (Pre-requisites:  INSU 301 and INSU 302)

 MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS CONCENTRATION REQUIREMENTS 
The Management Information Systems Concentration consists of five courses in addition to MIS 101 (Information Systems in Organizations and Society), the single MIS course required of all students as specified in the Core Curriculum requirements. Students taking these courses have already been exposed to COMP 001 and COMP 002–the two introductory computer skills courses taught in the preparatory year of study.

The five additional MIS courses include:
MIS 201: Information Systems Analysis and Design (Pre-requisite:  MIS 101)
MIS 303: Data Management (Pre-requisites:  MIS 201 and MGT 102)
MIS 401: Business Computer Languages (Pre-requisites: MIS 201 and MIS 303)
MIS 402: Management of Informational Systems (Pre-requisites:  MIS 101 and MIS 303)
MIS 403: Business Telecommunications (Pre-requisites:  MIS 201 and MIS 303)
